The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating an internal application, review and selection process for applications submitted to all themes.

Theme 2: AI for Discovery in Materials Research. A successful Materials AI Institute will transform the materials discovery landscape, enable new AI-based capabilities, and be responsive to societal challenges and industrial needs.
Intel Corporation is providing partial support for this theme.

Theme 3: Strengthening AI presents the opportunity and necessity to research ways in which AI technologies of all sorts can be improved and integrated toward systems that are reliable and aligned with human intentions and ethical considerations.


Application Information:

Applicants will be asked the following (this information will be displayed on each applicant's individual electronic dashboard)
  •     Identification of theme 2 or theme 3
  •     Proposal Title
  •     Project Summary, 500 words max.
  •     Keywords relevant to the proposal, up to 6
  •     Project Period
  •     Total funding requested
  •     PI Biosketch, 3 page limit
  •     Facilities, Equipment and Other Resources statement, 1 page, max.
  •     Co-PI and/or other senior personnel Biosketch, 3 page limit, as applicable
  •     Attestation: NSF 23-510 IP Language and extended internal review

This competition is enabled for Proxy applicants. Before beginning an application, Proxies will be asked to locate their Principal Investigator in HUFP. If your PI is not registered in HUFP, please ask them to create their profile using their HarvardKey. Proxies should never “add user” in HUFP.
