Brief Description:
The NEH Summer Stipends support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both.
Eligible projects usually result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials and publications, archaeological site reports, translations, or editions. Projects must not result solely in the collection of data; instead they must also incorporate analysis and interpretation.
Harvard University, as a single institution, may submit two proposals to the NEH Summer Stipends competition. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating the internal process to select two proposals for submission to the sponsor.

Application Information:
Applicants are asked to submit:
A project narrative, not to exceed three (3) single spaced pages. The narrative should provide intellectual justification for the project, conveying the ideas, objectives and methods
Work Plan, not to exceed one, (1), page. Summarize your work plan, describing the part or stage of the project that will be supported by the Summer Stipend and the activities or steps that you will use during the period of performance to carry it out. Use a timeline that includes each activity. Your work plan must be based on a full-time commitment to the project for two consecutive months; part-time work is not allowed. If you do not anticipate finishing the entire project during the period of performance, discuss your plan for doing so.
Eligibility Criteria:
US Citizens, residing inside or outside of the United States are eligible to apply
Foreign nationals who have been living in the United States or its jurisdictions for at least three years immediately preceding the application deadline are also eligible
Faculty members teaching full time must be nominated by their institutions to apply for a Summer Stipend
Emeritus faculty and University staff members who are not faculty members and will not be teaching during the academic year preceding the award tenure are exempt from requiring University nomination in order to apply
