Brief Description:

The National Endowment for the Arts conducts two cycles per year for their "Grants for Art Projects" opportunity. Harvard University is limited to submitting one application to one grant cycle each year. Applicants hoping to apply to either cycle should apply internally at this time.

 All grants require a non-federal match of at least 1:1


Description:

Through project-based funding, the NEA Grants for Arts Projects program supports public engagement with, and access to, various forms of art across the nation, the creation of art, learning in the arts at all stages of life, and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life.

Funding is available in the following disciplines:
  • Artist Communities
  • Arts Education
  • Dance
  • Design
  • Folk & Traditional Arts
  • Literary Arts
  • Local Arts Agencies
  • Media Arts
  • Museums
  • Music
  • Musical Theater
  • Opera
  • Presenting & Multidisciplinary Arts
  • Theater
  • Visual Arts

Applicants wishing to apply to either NEA discipline cycle should apply internally at this time. The Office of the Vice Provost will not run a second internal application period for the disciplines that the NEA have assigned a July 2023 submission deadline.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating an internal process to select one proposal to go forward to the NEA "Grants for Art Projects" opportunity from Harvard University.

Please note that for this opportunity Harvard Art Museums and A.R.T., are viewed as separate entities by the NEA and should not apply through process facilitated by the OVPR office.



Application Information:

Applicants are asked to submit the following (this information will be repeated on the applicant's electronic dashboard).

Once the sponsor publishes guidelines for the 2023 application cycle, the OVPR will update the following questions as appropriate

  • Identification of discipline focus as defined by the NEA
  • A one page project description, 10 pt. font minimum. Associated graphics may be placed on blank pages at the conclusion of the written description
  • A current CV, no preferred format
    Important Note About Matching Requirements: All grants require a non-federal match of at least 1:1. Please contact your chair, director, and/or Dean to confirm institutional support for your project. Within the internal application applicants will be asked to indicate the source of matching funds.
