Brief Description:

The Quantum Sensing Challenges for Transformational Advances in Quantum Systems supports interdisciplinary teams of three (3) or more investigators to explore innovative, original and potentially transformative research on quantum sensing. Projects should result in proof of concept principle or field-testing of concepts and platforms that can benefit society.

Harvard University, as a single institution, is limited to submitting two (2) proposals in response to this opportunity. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is facilitating and internal application and review process for eligible applicants.

Application Information:

Applicants are asked to provide the following (this information will appear again on the applicant's individual electronic application dashboard):
  • Proposal title
  • Total funding requested
  • PI name & Biographical Sketch. (3 pages max.) Please include current and pending support for the PI and each Co-PI
  • Co-PI name and Biographical Sketch (required)
  • Co-PI name and Biographical Sketch (required)
  • Identification of NSF defined proposal track(s)
  • Identification of potential quantum sensing research areas (per NSF guidelines the two allowed preliminary proposals submitted by Harvard in response to this call must be in "substantially different research areas")
  • Provide a summary (1 page max. 10 point font minimum) of the intellectual merit of the proposed project, including how the proposal will leverage and/or promote advances in quantum sensing and the broader impacts and potential long-term impacts on national needs

Additional Information, Related Websites, and Proxy Instructions:

This competition is enabled for Proxy applicants. Before beginning an application, Proxies will be asked to locate their Principal Investigator in HUFP. If your PI is not registered in HUFP, please ask them to create their profile using their HarvardKey. Proxies should never “add user” in HUFP.
